Union County, NJ – Wednesday, March 11, 2020 – After consulting with experts New Jersey Progressive Democrats of Union County is CANCELING Our Abolish the Line Rally scheduled for today at 4:00PM.
Ballot reform is extremely important, but public health is our first priority. Epidemiologists and public health experts are resoundingly recommending that large gatherings of people be canceled – we are heading the advice of the experts.
However, just because the rally is off doesn’t mean our voices can’t still be heard. If you are in favor of a fair, open ballot without lines and bias, please take a moment to call the Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi at 908-527-4787 and/or email the Clerk’s Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. When you call remind the clerk that New Jersey statute give her the power to create a fair ballot.
In addition, Union County Progressive Democrats of Union County is suspending all future in-person campaign events and in-person canvassing until further notice as a safety precaution. We must be proactive about public health and we call on all candidates, committees, and political organizations to follow our lead and put public health before political ambition. This is not a partisan or political issue and we should all be doing our part to ensure the safety of the public.
